Service to our Nation
During college, Doug enlisted in the Naval Reserve. In 1987, Doug received a commission as a Supply Corps Officer. Some highlight's of his career:
Naval Reactors. His first assignment after OCS and Supply Corps school was with the Navy's Nuclear Propulsion program. He worked in logistics, distribution, and warehousing.
USS GEORGIA (SSBN 729 Blue). Assigned as the supply officer, this was Doug's first assignment in Kitsap County.
Fleet and Industrial Supply Center Yokosuka. After graduating from the University of Kansas, Doug was assigned to lead fuel distribution for the Navy in Japan.
USS CARL VINSON (CVN 70). During this assignment, the USS CARL VINSON was in the Arabian Sea on 9/11. The return of the USS CARL VINSON to Kitsap County in January 2002 showed the pride of our community for those who serve in our Navy.
Fleet and Industrial Supply Center Puget Sound. Doug filled a variety of positions, including Executive Officer and leading supply functions at Bangor.
Naval Supply System Headquarters (NAVSUP HQ). Assigned during a time of business transformation, Doug led the Navy's efforts to build plans to transition from legacy business process and software to a commercial Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software.
NAVSUP Business System's Center. Doug's command ashore opportunity. He led a global team of professionals in providing business software for the Navy both ashore and afloat. The applications ranged from accounting software to food service applications.
Doug retired from the Navy in 2012 as a Captain.
